# Custom Liquid

A section that takes Liquid code directly — for app snippets, or for something the theme does not cover.

There is also a **Custom Liquid block**, which does the same thing inside another section. Use the block when the code belongs within an existing section, and the section when it stands on its own.

## Settings

| Setting        | What it does                   |
| -------------- | ------------------------------ |
| Liquid code | The code to render. |
| Top spacing    | 0px to 120px.                  |
| Bottom spacing | 0px to 120px.                  |
| Color scheme | Which scheme the section uses. |

## What it is for

The usual case is an app that gives you a snippet to paste. Some apps ask you to add code to your theme; paste it here instead of editing theme files, and it stays out of the way of theme updates.

## A warning worth taking seriously

**Invalid Liquid will stop the page rendering.** Not the section — the page. If you paste something with a syntax error, the page it is on will fail to load for customers.

So:

* Paste code from a source you trust, exactly as given.
* Check the page in the theme editor preview before saving.
* If a page stops loading after you edit this, empty the field and it will recover.

## What support covers

Code you add here is your own. Support can help with the theme's own settings and sections, but not with debugging custom code or third-party snippets — see [Support policy](/roomfolk/support/support-policy.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.lufavo.com/roomfolk/sections/custom-liquid.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
